About Nopar

Nopar Africa was born out of the conviction that lack of access to quality health care is a violation of fundamental human rights. The fact that access to quality health care is skewed in favor of the economically capable brings out the gravity of this injustice among poor communities.

Women and children who happen to have higher health needs suffer this injustice the most. Nopar Africa aims to address this injustice by addressing issues that affect the health of mothers using proven innovations. Learn more about our program areas.

Our Work

We believe that maternal and child deaths are preventable, through partnerships with communities and governments, we can urgently deploy innovative solutions that can help us surpass the SDGs targets before 2030.

How it works

The above innovations have been put together in the Nopar Obstetric  Hemorrhage Bundle Initiative (NOHBI). Through this initiative, Nopar Africa partners with local Ministries of Health to train healthcare workers in these technologies at the health facility level. First, targeting health facilities that conduct the most deliveries, we intend to deploy the bundle across all health facilities ensuring that every woman has access to support in case of emergency.

The community health workers are deployed to households in the communities that they come from after undergoing training. The CHWs proactively seeks out sick people in the community providing first line treatment to common illnesses such as Malaria and Diarrhoea and refer complicated conditions to the health facility for further attention. The CHW’s also support women throughout their pregnancy ensuring that they deliver at a health clinic. CHW’s help generate demand for health services through community education and outreach thereby changing health seeking behaviors.

Model high quality primary healthcare services

The health system is buckling due to demand for services at higher levels of the health system that could otherwise be provided at the primary care level.

In line with the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda, Nopar Africa is at the forefront of pushing for the realization of healthcare for all. We work in primary care clinics to improve service quality and infrastructure that deliver high quality primary healthcare services.

What we do

Nopar Africa partners with primary health clinics to improve infrastructure for delivery of maternal and child health services. We renovate spaces to make them more patient friendly, deploy critically needed equipment and train healthcare workers to offer more patient centered care. Nopar Africa is looking to a future of reducing physical access barriers by putting up model primary healthcare clinics where such may be lacking. Nopar hospital is being conceptualized as one such model primary care facility.
