The Problem

Sub Saharan Africa bears the burden of 68% of maternal deaths globally. That is 533 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, or 200,000 maternal deaths a year. On the other hand, 1 in 13 children die before their fifth birthday. This is unacceptable injustice that must be addressed with urgency. Nopar Africa believes that this injustice can be addressed starting with concerted efforts to meet the SDG targets on reducing under-five and maternal mortality.

Our Solution

TO REDUCE MATERNAL MORTALITY

Investment in Community Health

Nopar Africa believes that investment in community health is key to achieving these goals. Community health makes healthcare accessible to billions of people who would otherwise go through their whole life times without seeing a health worker

Quality primary healthcare clinics

The world has made great strides in placing a health clinic within a 5km radius of a household. Whereas this physical access has been improved in many parts, the quality of health services delivered at these clinics is often wanting.

Proactive, continuous care and health innovations

Nopar Africa believes that health should be an everyday life experience rather than something you seek when you are sick. Ensuring a continuum of care from the household to higher levels of the health system is critical if these SDG goals are to be met.
